Many people often consider mentoring and coaching to be one of the same things. Though related, they are not the same. Although in practice there is some blurring between the two.
A mentor may coach, but a coach does not mentor!
Mentoring is a relational while coaching may be considered functional.
We at Taking Action see coaching as unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their opportunities and performance. The goal is to help people learn rather than teaching them. We also like to extend the learning to promote continuous growth, strength and resilience. Often this motivation created in your business will flow through to all other parts of your life.
As your coach we support and encourage you to develop a plan and assist you in removing any roadblocks. Together we are on the journey to achieve your goals.
As your mentor we may be considered as consultants or advisors who can provide support outside your usual work environment. Mentoring is not something one person does to another, it is a process whereby both the mentor and mentee work together to discover and develop the hidden abilities.
